How do you conduct capacity building and trainings?
They are conducted online and in-person, individually and in groups – based on the needs.
The design always starts with the evaluation and understanding of your needs. They are real-life oriented and practically applicable.
We work with current or past real-life work problems rather than generic case studies.
Usually they contain a learning part, which develops your understanding of the theoretical frameworks – which you will use as scaffolding for your own leadership work.
The reflection and case work part examines your own real life challenges, and helps you make sense and learn from the challenging experiences you have had.
How is Adaptive Leadership coaching different than from other coaching?
The typical coaching procedure focuses on guiding the client by asking insightful questions towards the answers they already have within.
The Adaptive Leadership understanding of coaching starts with listening and asking questions, but then also gives you very practical, hands-on tools to apply on the challenges you are facing.
AL coaching helps you better diagnose your situation, understand hidden system dynamics, strategize your actions and innovate possible solutions.
You are invited to interpret differently what has happened to you in the past, recognize your own unconscious biases and behavioral patterns, and overall gain more internal freedom and skill – allowing you to achieve dramatically different outcomes.
If we look into personal experiences and biases, how is AL training different from therapy?
Some clients call our work “career therapy” for its profound impact on their career – and for its ability to sometimes heal apparently broken work situations.
However, it is important to understand that this work is not therapy.
Working with the Framework will ask you to look deeply inside yourself, and into your background, in search of the sources of your actions and ambitions.
The important difference is that we look only at how this shows up in your workplace challenges, and in the way you handle them.
Beyond just working with the narrative you bring, Adaptive Leadership coaches invite you to open certain topics we see as relevant, and will help you connect them to the Framework solutions.
Since the personal and professional are interconnected, sometimes our work does kick off a personal development journey. It might even reflects on improving relationships outside of work. At other times this work might draw to light issues that might need further work, in therapy or in traditional coaching, which we might recommend.
Here at LeaderAdaptive we are believers in continuous personal growth development: Some of the best leaders we have worked with have explored also self improvement and healing before or after engaging with our training, coaching or capacity building.
I already did countless leadership workshops – what does Adaptive Leadership training offer that is different?
Some of our best executive trainees have entered their training stating the above; they tend to become the biggest champions of the Adaptive Leadership Framework.
What the Framework does differently is work with your actual challenges, messy work situations, difficult work relationships, and past failures – not with someone else’s case studies. Your work life becomes the case study, allowing us to develop leadership solutions tailored to who your are as a person and the situation you are in. You will learn to recognize and modify the behavioral patterns connecting your work challenges. You will also learn to diagnose and analyze problems with a brilliant yet simple systemic approach.
How long does the training last – how many sessions do I need?
Training with LeaderAdaptive has the goal to create capacity, not dependency – just like true Leadership should. Our goal is to help you learn and apply the concepts relevant to your situation in as few sessions as possible. Some leaders do great with just a few sessions needed to overcome a hurdle; some choose to study Adaptive Leadership in more depth, preparing for significant professional and personal challenges.
Which coaching or teaching formats do you offer?
Besides 1:1 training, LeaderAdaptive offers tailor-made capacity building programs, group workshops with one or multiple facilitators, online courses, keynote speaking, and teaching in academic environments, particularly in Master’s level and Executive Education.
Our mission is to make the Adaptive Leadership Framework widely available to practitioners worldwide. .
What does individual AL coaching or training look like?
The training process starts with a needs assessment. Usually it combines online individual training sessions with written assignments, to which the trainee is given detailed, insightful written feedback.
The online sessions (via Teams or Zoom) typically last around one and a half hours or more.
The assignments require the trainee to reflect on their experiences and challenges in a structured manner. They provide a lot of clarity for our trainees, as the written feedback guides them in recognizing their behavioral patterns, unconscious beliefs etc. This helps refine the trainees thinking regarding the challenge at hand.
The assignments are not generic, but formulated based on the work done in the individual session.
Therefore significant progress for trainees can be achieved not only during, but also in-between training sessions.
